A note on spelling

As you may know, there is more than one way to spell Japanese proper names in English. However,my spellings of such names of Ranma characters and places are actually more correct than Viz's method because in some of the names, the "o" or "u" sound is actually long:a Japanese long "o" is transliterated either "oo" or "ou,"while a Japanese long "u" is transliterated as "uu."Refer to this chart for the spellings I use on this site as opposed to Viz's "anglicized" transliterations.Updated April 10,2001
